Pip’s Haircut

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

My wife took Pip to be groomed today. It looks like she left him there and brought home this puppy instead!

The haircut sure took a lot of size — and age — off of him!

Smile for the camera!

Did someone say “cheese”? Sam had to get in on the action.

And, I had to take some photos of Rosie as well.

She’s going to have to go in for a serious trim soon too!

Worn out from his busy day, Pip settled down for a nap.

Guess it’s been too long since I posted anything here! Hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas! And, best wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2009!

A couple of weeks before Christmas, I worked on my canine portrait skills. Here are some of the results:

I’m especially happy with this image of Pip:

And, here’s a closeup of Sam:

A few days later, we had Rosie groomed. Often when she scratched herself, her long claws were getting tangled in her fur. We didn’t have a lot of fur taken off due to the cold weather. The groomers returned her with a bow and kerchief — suitably themed for the time of year. Add a red plaid blanket to complete a shot for the holidays….

Snow!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Well, after receiving an inch of snow here, another couple there… we finally received our first “real” snowfall of the season last night. About 5-6 inches here in Rochester — ok, I know that’s still not a lot but… well… more than we had been receiving.

Of the 3 pups, Pip is the most comfortable in the snow and cold. Of course, he has the thickest coat and the most protected feet of the 3 so, it makes sense that he likes it the best.

He loves sticking his face in the snow, which means that he often gets his face covered. I ventured out with the camera today for a handful of shots.

Here’s the king of the snowballs, lying in the snow, looking at me.

Rosie doesn’t mind the snow in small doses. She enjoys bouncing and hopping in it… until she gets too cold…

Sam likes it least of all… so, I didn’t get a photo of him today. He didn’t mind the cold (as low as 5°F earlier on) when there wasn’t any snow, and didn’t mind the initial snowfall when the temperature was still relatively high. He definitely doesn’t like the snow and cold combination we’ve had lately though.

Here’s another, closer photo of Pip.

I also took some video today including all three of them. I might find time to share that with you as well within the next day or 2.

Our House is really going to the dogs!

Introducing Alex, a 10 year old Terrier (Jack Russel?) Schnauzer mix. Not sure if that makes her a Schnerrier or a Tauzer!

OMG! You DO need your heads examined, I can hear you all saying!!! :-D

Not to worry. Alex is basically a foster dog. We’re taking care of her for a friend and she’ll only be with us for a few days until better arrangements can be made.

Of course, the pups want to play with her but she’s not so sure. She is gradually settling in though.

Last night, Rosie needed a bath. Warning to anyone looking for a dog — white ones really, REALLY show up dirt!. Anyway, after she was dried, Pat wrapped her up in a blanket. Big brother Sam lay down next to her to warm and protect her.

I finally managed to get some decent shots of Pip today. Usually, he’s either sleeping or zipping around at the speed of light. I managed to catch him during a transition moment this morning.

Yesterday, I took a few photos of Pip and Sam … just to make sure they didn’t feel left out ;)

Pip was trying to snooze in the sunlight yesterday morning. He barely opened his eyes when I called his name. “Come on Dad… quit pointing that thing at me and let me sleep!”….

A little later in the day, Sam was soaking up the sunshine, not quite ready to sleep though.

This morning, Rosie was being cute again. Technically, this isn’t such a good picture but, it definitely was a cute moment. When she yawns wide like this, she lets out a very cute little squeaking noise.

Then, she stuck her tongue out at me!

Sure is fun around here these days!
